In the loving arms of her sons, Margaret Ann (Peggy) Dawson (Tucker) passed away at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton on June 25, 2022. She died as she lived - demonstrating a high standard for her children to strive toward.

The daughter of the late Shirley (Donovan) and Sterling Tucker, she was married to Andy Dawson and lived nearly all her life in her home community of Renous, NB. Her home was always open to family, friends, and strangers alike, and the kettle was always boiling for tea.

For the past three years she resided at Shannex Parkland, in Fredericton, NB where she continued the tradition of welcoming new friends to her table.

She is deeply grieved by three sons, none of whom properly appreciated their mother in their younger years, and who inadequately attempted to demonstrate their love, appreciation, and affection for her in later years, George (Yuliya) of Natick, MA, Andrew (Rebecca) of Fredericton, NB and Mick (Jess) of Fredericton, NB. She is also dearly missed by 5 grandchildren (Theo, David, Sarah, Isabella and Ivy), 5 brothers (Richard, Steven, Patrick, Robert and Charles), 3 sisters (Sharon, Jill and Daphne) and countless cousins and friends.

Beginning several decades ago with her diagnosis with kidney disease, and for nearly all her adult life, she persevered through complicated and worsening medical conditions. Culminating in her loss of mobility, dexterity, and quality of life – she never considered these afflictions a burden and she was thankful for having been able to see her children reach adulthood, if not maturity.

To the very end she was adamant that she had much to be grateful for, and her family finds strength in her bravery, grit, and determination. She was a selfless mother figure, not just to her own children, but to her brothers, sisters, cousins, and friends. She was a hard-working and community-minded woman, and she willingly gave whatever she had to whoever required it.

In a world increasingly devoid of belief of anything, she believed in things. Values. In ‘right’ and ‘wrong’. And God. She believed that some things weren’t subjective – like honesty, integrity and keeping ones’ word. She held fast to these beliefs whether times were good or bad, whether their application made her circumstances easier, or more difficult.

Margaret Ann (Peggy) Dawson is resting at St. Bridget’s Roman Catholic with visitation on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 6 pm at St. Bridget’s Roman Catholic Church with Father Paul Doucet Officiating. Burial will be in the family plot of the Church Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, it was her wish that a donation be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada.

A two-time kidney transplant patient, she would strongly encourage readers to consider signalling their intent to become an organ donor by visiting

Her family wish that readers take the time to call or visit their mother if they are so fortunate to still have one - we have just realized how big and empty the world is without your mother’s love in it.
