It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Raymond Joseph Woods on July 22, 2022 at his home in Nelson-Miramichi.
Ray was born in Chatham in 1929 and was predeceased by his parents, James and Ellen Woods (nee Sullivan) and brothers Hubert, Dennis, Edward, Patrick, Daniel, and Armand, and sisters Elizabeth, Sr. Kathleen, Loretta, and Anna.
He was kind, generous and a loving husband and father. He will greatly missed by his wife of 62 years Agatha (nee Comeau), his four children, Ivan (Carolyn), Eileen Bowes (Jerry), Greg (Tammy), and Joan Estes (Kumao), and his grandchildren Eric, Allison, Jennifer, Shannon, Jacob, Breanne and Kenzie, and great grandchildren Grayson, Reese, and Duncan.
He was an active member of St. Patrick’s Church. He served on the Parish Council for several terms and was a lifetime member of the Father Michael Eagan Council #8381 Knights of Columbus. He and Agatha volunteered countless hours at St. Patrick’s Church and for the Knights of Columbus.
He retired in 1988 as Production Supervisor for Repap Miramichi. In retirement he loved the outdoors and enjoyed walking and fishing, in particular spending time fly fishing on the Dungarvon River, often with Fr. Leon Creamer. He also loved watching the Blue Jays play baseball, especially if they were winning. He got tremendous joy spending time with his grandchildren.
He was most happy spending time with his family and helping them with any projects. He was a jack of all trades and master of many and would put his talents to any job from carpentry to electrical to plumbing, just to name a few. He loved spending time in his woodworking shop where he crafted many articles for his home, family, friends, and St. Patrick’s Church.
He gave his children an idyllic childhood. Family was his highest priority, and he devoted his free time taking the family camping, fishing, clam digging, berry picking, visiting relatives, and on family picnics.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 29, 2022 at 11 am at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.

The family would like to thank his caregivers, Extra-Mural, and Hospice.
As expressions of sympathy, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of one’s choice.
